LIMASSOL VISIT
Discover the must-see historical landmarks and immerse in the bustling atmosphere of the new city of Limassol. Limassol is only second to the capital Nicosia by size. And it has a lot to offer in terms of exploration and leisure. First off, you will travel to the archaeological site of Amanthous (interior visit), a city founded in 1100 BC and later named a UNESCO Heritage Site. As you amble between the remains of the Temple of Aphrodite and early Christian basilicas, contemplate the story of Theseus. The ancient hero is believed to have left the pregnant Ariadne to be taken care of in Amanthus after he defeated the Minotaur. Your next destination will be the Medieval Limassol Castle (interior visit). Erected by the French in the 12th century and rebuilt by Ottomans four centuries later, its fortifications have seen their fair share of history. You will step inside and marvel at the interiors where Richard the Lionheart held a lavish celebration of his marriage to Berengaria of Navarre. After the dive into history, you will take a stroll along the lively marina that lies to the west of the Castle. The tour will continue to one of the most beautiful Mediterranean parks, Promenade Molos, and Limassol Agora offering unique gastronomic and shopping opportunities.

VISIT TO KOURION
Time-travel to the unique and ancient civilization of Kourion that no longer exists.. Kourion (interior visit) was an influential city state until 365 AD, when a horrible earthquake put an end to its flourishing and rendered it into oblivion. You will marvel at the imposing Greco-Roman theater that was later restored to its former glory and mosaic floors depicting scenes from ancient life. Alongside the ruins of an early Christian basilica, you will discover the Sanctuary of Apollon Hylates (interior visit) who was worshiped by Kourionians. Some of the items that were found in the temple are exposed in the Kourion Archaeological Museum.
VISIT TO KOLOSSI CASTLE
Discover the trails of the Christian military orders’ presence in Cyprus at Kolossi Castle (interior visit). Located 14 km off Limassol, the former crusader stronghold was founded by Grand Master of the Hospitallers Louis de Magnac in the 16th century. His coat-of-arms still survives on the walls of the castle, even though the original fortification rose three centuries earlier. At some point, the Knights Templar took over the castle to return it back to its original owners a few years later. As you walk through the dark pebbled corridors, you will hear the same echo the original inhabitants of the castle heard every day. It doesn’t take much imagination to picture Medieval commoners buzzing about, carrying sugar and wines, which represented Cyprus’ main exports at that time.

CITY TOUR OF LARNACA BY BUS
Travel around Larnaca, discovering the city’s attractions – from the Pierides Museum (interior visit) to the Winged Lion of Venice and other highlights. “We have two ears and one mouth, so we should listen more than we say.” So said Zeno of Citium. And there will be plenty of stories to hear from your guide at the statue of this famous Larnacian who founded the Stoic school of philosophy. You will follow the scholarly journey of Zeno and the dramatic life story of Kimon, a prominent Athenian strategist, as you contemplate his bust. Your tour will continue to the medieval Castle of Larnaca (exterior view) and the picturesque Kamares Aqueduct and Faneromeni Church (exterior view). But the highlight of this tour will be your visit to the Saint Lazarus Church (interior visit). The building is believed to be erected upon the second tomb of the famous Biblical character and is, therefore, highly revered.

VISIT TO LEFKARA VILLAGE WITH LOUKOUMI TASTING
Travel to the Lefkara Village, home of world-renowned Cypriot embroidery. “Lefkaritika,” the unique lace originating in the village, has well-deserved its place on UNESCO’s List of Intangible Culture Heritage. Leonardo da Vinci is reputed to have visited Lefkara to buy the exquisite embroidery for the main altar of Milan Cathedral. And you will learn why lefkaritika attracted the legendary artist as you discover its finest examples at the Museum of Traditional Embroidery (interior visit) and Silversmith. But Lefkara has more to offer. The village is famous for lokum, confections made of starch and sugar, also known as Turkish delight. You will try fresh samples of the sweet treat at a small lokum confectionery in the old streets of Lefkara. As you explore the village, you will contemplate buildings made almost entirely from locally sourced stone. The tour will take you to the 14th-century Holy Cross Church (interior visit) where you will witness the remaining piece of the True Cross. At the Chapel of Agia Marina, you will hear the stories of the old monastery upon which the present place of worship was built.

VISIT TO PAPHOS
Grasp the spirit of ancient history by visiting the archaeological attractions of Paphos. Your journey will begin at the Rock of Aphrodite, a large Jurassic-era coral limestone. It is believed to mark the place where the goddess of love, once widely worshiped in Cyprus, was born from the sea foam. You will continue to the Paphos Archaeological Park (Nea Paphos) (interior visit) to explore what remains of early Greek and Roman civilizations. The archaeological complex is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and you will see why. Just marvel at the astonishing mosaic floors of Roman villas and contemplate the fates of 100 Ptolemaic aristocrats buried in the Tomb of the Kings (interior visit). As you continue exploring, the Paphos Castle (exterior view) will vie for your attention. It still bears the marks of its multiple owners: Byzantines, Lusignans, Venetians, Ottomans… Next, you will find yourself at a site popular with pilgrims (exterior view): the archaeological complex of St. Paul’s Pillar. Legend has it that it is here the Saint was tied up and whipped for preaching Christianity. The complex is renowned for Agia Kyriaki Church and Agia Solomoni Church (exterior view), both of which you will explore on your visit.
